Allan Taylor The Road Well Travelled Hybrid Stereo SACD

The 79-year-old Briton Allan Taylor presents a new masterpiece with his long-awaited new album "The road well travelled".
A truly fitting album title, because his almost 60 years "on the road" are now a thing of the past and the gifted song poet, singer/songwriter, guitarist, doctor of musicology and philosopher has retired from the exhausting touring life.
In his as always profound, often autobiographical song lyrics, he shares thoughts and stories from his life as a musician "on the road", lets us participate in what seems important and moves him in his life and makes us think about what parallels there are in values and values to our own lives.
The newly released and wonderfully arranged and instrumented songs give a retrospective of his entire artistic work, from the important folk clubs in England, his formative time in New York City, tours through America and many other performances worldwide - always influenced, inspired and completely in the tradition of his great role models Jack Kerouac and Woody Guthrie. In "A giant red balloon", one of my favorite numbers on the album, the path leads us far back into our youth and in the title song, which is characteristically also the "bouncer" of the album, the old master, with goosebump-inducing speech singing and accompanied only by delicate piano sounds, roams through his entire artistic life in many quotes.
"The Joker ́s hand" is a nice duet with his young Danish colleague Jacob Dinesen and "I'm going home" is like "Just the way it goes" a real treat for the ear and both are absolute favorites of mine.The new album, released as a super audio CD, offers a really extraordinary listening pleasure and in the end you regret that there are unfortunately only eight songs, with a total of 40 minutes of playing time.
Let's hope that the farewell to the tour routine will not also be a farewell to the studio, that his health will continue to play along, that his high creativity will continue and that Allan Taylor will continue to surprise us with wonderful, new songs even beyond his 80 (which he will be next year).
As Taylor currently announces on his website, the idea for the album also gave rise to the idea of playing individual concerts under the same title, in which he will then also tell the stories and anecdotes that have led to the songs he has written in his many years on tour and make up his career. In order not to miss this rare chance to experience him live, it is worth keeping a close eye on the troubadour's few appearances and dates.
