The Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa originally pursued the plan to become a pianist. But a hand injury in a rugby match shattered this dream, which is why he turned to the conductor's podium and composition - and with great success. As an assistant to Leonard Bernstein and Herbert von Karajan, he had the best teachers, stood on all the world's great stages and was a conductor for the Vienna State Opera and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, among others.
In this recording with the Orchestre de Paris, Tchaikovsky's ballet suites for the "Nutcracker" and "Sleeping Beauty" are shown.
