Recorded on June 18, 1980, Schloss Hohenems, Austria (Live recording) [Quintet] and February 11-13, 16, 18 and April 9-12, 1963, at Salle Wagram, Paris [Fantasie].
Franz Schubert's "Trout" is well known to classical music listeners. The poem set to music by Christian Schubart was already a great success with the public at the time of its creation in 1817, so that the Austrian composer wrote the "Trout Quintet" as a sequel.
In this recording, pianist Sviatoslav Richter, supported by strings from the "Borodin" Quartet, interprets the "Trout" and the "Wanderer Fantasy". The recordings took place in Austria and Paris in 1980 and 1963.
