After his violin studies, the conductor Pierre Monteux (1875 – 1964) personally auditioned Johannes Brahms, who would later become one of his favourite composers. In 1962 he recorded the German composer's second symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra at London's Wembley Town Hall, which can be heard on this release.
Pierre Monteux conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in a reading of Brahms' Symphony No.2 and two overtures. This album was recorded November 28 - December 1, 1962 at Wembley Town Hall in London.
