Even though "The Gilded Palace of Sin" did not reach the top 200 of the US charts, this album is still one of the important releases of 1970s rock. Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman continue to follow the direction they recently followed with the "Byrds". They made country cool by fusing traditional currents such as folk and country with gospel, soul and psychedelic rock. It is not for nothing that Rolling Stone Magazine ranked "The Gilded Palace of Sin" among the 2012 most important albums of all time in 500.
