In 1650, the polymath Athanasius Kircher first described the "Stylus Phantasticus", a style of Baroque music. This album contains eleven such works by early Baroque composers, tracing the evolution of this direction from Italian roots to the Central European "imperial style".
Stylus Phantasticus was produced by Grammy Award winner David Sabee at St. Thomas Chapel in Kenmore, Washington, with the assistance of sound engineers Dmitry Lipay, Aleksandr Lipay and Kory Kruckenberg. Tekla Cunningham (baroque violin), William Skeen (bass), Stephen Stubbs (baroque guitar and chitarrone), Maxine Eilander (baroque harp) and Henry Lebedinsky (organ and harpsichord) will play.
