This masterpiece is one of the best soul/R&B albums to date. Here Etta James felt comfortable and convincing. She sang pop standards, as on the magnificent title track, written in 1941 and originally recorded by Glenn Miller's orchestra. "At Last" became Ettas signature song. It peaked at number two on the R&B chart and number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her powerful, lush alto voice matched the bluesy string arrangements of Riley Hampton and James really came into their own as a singer.
