Rosemary Clooney & Perez Prado A Touch Of Tabasco (2 LP)
What sounds like an idiosyncratic combination on paper turns out to be exactly the opposite when you first listen to it. The popular American singer Rosemary Clooney and the Cuban percussionist and bandleader Pérez Prado recorded a lively and colorful album with A Touch of Tabasco in 1959 , which is second to none. It combines Clooney's lovely and gentle voice with Latin arrangements by the Mambo king Prado.
The original pressing from RCA Victor was state-of-the-art and was provided with the anti-static agent 317X (“Miracel Surface”). So there were the first audiophile approaches for this album back then. The liner notes for the "ultra-modern" album were written by the director José Ferrer, Clooney's husband, who also rehearsed the correct pronunciation of the songs with her. The cover also provided a recommendation for the right turntable, because the finest recordings deserved the finest “phonograph”, the RCA Victor Stereo High Fidelity “Victrola”.
A great musical testimony of the late 50s that invites you to rock along and is just fun. Mastered by Bernie Grundman for ORG from the original analog master tapes, pressed by RTI, A Touch of Tabasco appears as a 45rpm double 180g vinyl album in a gatefold cover with consecutive serial numbers. Limited to 2,500 copies.
