Audionautes presents the second of four volumes of the cult recordings from Stockholm's Pawnshop Jazz Club for a top-level sound experience. The great quartet, led by Arne Domnerus, differs from Volume 1 in a personnel change, vibraphonist Lars Erstrand is not part of the party. The focus of this recording is on swing standards such as the great pieces "Poor Butterfly" or "Things Ain't What They Used to Be"; a Swedish and an African folk song complete the repertoire, which was masterfully recorded by sound engineer Gert Palmcrantz.
Unlike Jazz at the Pawnshop (whose session tapes are no longer available — since tens of years), Vol. 2 comes from the session tapes. These two tapes contain almost one hour of music, so all standard vinyl versions made so far excluded the "In a Mellow Tone" track, to make it possible for a single 33rpm. AudioNautes have included it. Then, having one free side (Side D), they also added a bonus track, "Jeep's Blues (Take 2)", a very slow, long and emotional version taken from the 7" tape recorded on December 7, 1976. It seems to be the very last played track. The group played it just for pleasure and very few people. AudioNautes also left almost 4 minutes of background "noise" with chats, speeches, etc., whatever recorded till the end of the tape: Palmcrantz did not stop the recording.
