Miles Davis Round About Midnight

"'Round About Midnight" marks the beginning of a collaboration of more than thirty years for Miles Davis and the Columbia record label. The long-standing collaboration with the then unknown saxophonist John Coltrane also started here. Together with Philly Joe Jones, Paul Chambers and pianist Red Garland, Davis, who became famous for bebop and cool jazz, recorded a set in 1957 that set new standards. During this time he developed into one of the coolest stars of the jazz scene, self-confident and absolutely "hip".
Musically unusual and timeless, "'Round About Midnight" becomes almost physically tangible on the MFSL reissue. Mastered by Krieg Wunderlich, the re-release follows the individual paths of each musician involved and unites them in new sonic delights. The recording was made in three sessions and the music never sounded so immediate.
One of the jazz musician's most essential recordings on Columbia Records will be released in a limited edition as a 180g mono vinyl LP with a sequential serial number in a gatefold cover.
