High-Quality Pure Analogue 180g Virgin Vinyl LP!
Audiophile Remastering!
When this double LP suddenly appeared on the shelves in the jazz departments in the seventies of the last century, it had become quite quiet around the 'monk'. Concerts? Not at all! News from the studio? By no means! The attempts of various managers, festival organizers and club owners to lure Monk out of his apartment, to briefly say goodbye to the TV screen in order to present new or old on the concert stages of the world, all failed.
The 1963 tour with the dates in Japan and this album compiled from it offered the normal 'concert routine', but the long-played themes spiced up with standards like "Just A Gigolo" or "I'm Gettin' Sentimental Over You" made the audience and collectors sit up and take notice. And: weren't "Blue Monk", "Epistrophy" and "Bemsha Swing" already well-known, often heard and played standards back then?
Happy memory for Japanese fans who were able to experience May 21, 1963 live in Tokyo's Sankei Hall! Happy LP listeners who can put this 2016 re-release on the shelf! What does the Monk fan want – and who wouldn't be one? –more?
