When Art Blakey grabbed the microphone on the stage of the Kurhaus in Scheveningen on the evening of November 29, 1958 and said: »I would like to take a moment and say good evening on behalf of the Jazz Messengers and myself«, everyone knows that he is experiencing a historical moment. Pianist Bobby Timmons had just written the iconic "Moanin'" and saxophonist Benny Golson had written the famous "Along Came Betty", which the Jazz Messengers mix with compositions by their famous companions Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. The essence of world jazz is on stage, and with this edition it is snatched from oblivion, to which it had fallen to this day.
