Various Artists Studio Concert Jubilee Edition 2013-2018 (2 LP)
2013 – 2018 | 5 years of studio concerts!
It is now 5 years ago that the then managing director Eva Bauer-Oppelland and the sound engineer Philipp Heck developed the idea of organizing live concerts in the studio with an audience.
Well maintained analogue equipment with the Neve Console and high-quality Studer tape machines are available. Eva Bauer-Oppelland, Reiner Oppelland and Johannes Wohlleben belong to the generation that has been recording analog for years and has passed on their expertise accordingly.
This experience and the enthusiasm for experimentation of the sound engineers, who know the sound of the microphones and the room very well, were the basis for the high-quality sound of the recordings: this is how the studio concert vinyl series was born - a completely analogue concert series - in an informative gatefold design, 180 -Gram pressing, hand numbered and limited.
In 5 years 35 concerts have already been released on vinyl. Treasures of analogue recording technology, in which the highly acclaimed live experience of the audience is preserved through to the expert listener of the LPs.
The concerts are mixed directly in stereo, which is also a big challenge for the sound engineers at every concert. Thus, all concerts in the series stand in their own light, as a work process of a single day.
To mark the anniversary, an exclusive sampler of the series will be released this year: a double studio concert vinyl consisting of previously unreleased works that have been recorded at fourteen studio concerts over the past five years, but were not selected for the original vinyls due to lack of space.
The two discs offer an overview of the fascinating diversity and musical range of the Studio Concert Edition. In order to combine the titles of the various concerts with a wide variety of line-ups and music genres, a complex analog mastering was used for the sampler for the first time in the Studio Concert series. The live mixed sound event is preserved. The former recording studio Bauer - founded in 1949 and renamed "Bauer Studios GmbH" in 1989 - is very pleased to be able to celebrate this anniversary. And soon there will be more reasons to celebrate: in 2019 the recording studio will be 70 years old!
