Fabio Camorani from the Italian label AudioNautes has taken on an outstanding release from Chesky Records with O Magnum Mysterium. The Album contains nine sacred pieces for choir and organ and was recorded in the summer of 1992 at St. Mary's the Virgin Cathedral in New York City. David Chesky describes: "the choir stood on the gallery at the rear end of the church at a height of about six metres. We mounted a stereo microphone type AKG C-24 at a high Boom in approx. nine meters high and a good 12 meters in front of the choir."Bob Katz took over the recording, it sings the Westminster Choir under the direction of conductor Joseph Flummerfelt.
For Fabio Camorani, Chesky's O Magnum Mysterium is the most timeless of the audiophile choral recordings, whose realism, sonority and dynamics win over year after year. The recording reflects in a balanced and natural way what was captured in the rooms of the church. These include three variations of the eponymous O Magnum Mysterium. The Mastering of the original analog tapes in a purely analog process and the paint cut was done by Scott Hull of Masterdisk. The first 500 copies from the first pressing will be released in numbered edition on 180 Vinyl at 33 rpm. Pressed at the Pallas Group in Diepholz.
