Reference Recordings celebrated the 100th birthday of the American composer Aaron Copland with this recording in 2000. For this LP, two of his most famous and memorable works were put on one album. The fanfare “For The Common Man” has become indispensable at major sporting events. Her majestic winds and drums produce goose bumps wherever you hear them. "The Third Symphony" is considered Copland's masterpiece, the best symphony written by an American in the 20th century. Her finale, written for a full symphony orchestra, leaves a comfortable chill down your spine. Music lovers should easily recognize how Copland incorporated the elements of his then unreleased fanfare into the finale of the symphony.
The LP was cut by Paul Stubblebine in half-speed mastering in Pacifica at Reference Recordings.
180-gram or 200-gram pressing - a question that is not that easy.
For identical titles from Reference Recordings, there are covers labeled 180 g containing LPs that weigh around 200 g, and vice versa. This is due to the fact that the commissioned pressing plants QRT and RTI in the USA specify a 10 percent tolerance for weight on the one hand and then occasionally get the orders mixed up. In terms of sound, the pressings do not differ.
