Marking Ravel's 150th birthday and the one-year anniversary of Seiji Ozawa's death, Deutsche Grammophon presents Ozawa's recordings with Boston Symphony Orchestra of the composer's orchestral works. This 4 LP set is limited and numbered.
The Original Source Series from Deutsche Grammophon features celebrated recordings reissued on vinyl. All recordings have been newly mastered from the original tapes and mixed by Rainer Maillard and cut by Sidney C. Meyer from Emil Berliner Studios. Pressed on 180g virgin vinyl by Optimal, presented in a deluxe gatefold with original artwork and housed in a rigid slipcase. Featuring photos and facsimiles of the recording documentation on the inner sleeve. Each gatefold also contains a note detailing the technical procedure of the Original Source Series.
On the occasion of Maurice Ravel's 150th birthday, this 4-LP box set presents the composer's orchestral works in magnificent sound. In the 1970s, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) was a top-class ensemble that had enjoyed a reputation as America's most important "French" orchestra since the days of Serge Koussevitzky and Charles Munch. Seiji Ozawa was music director of the BSO from 1973 to 2002, and these Ravel recordings, recorded right at the beginning of the maestro's tenure in Boston, are among the best results of their collaboration.
The audiophile vinyl series The Original Source presents outstanding recordings of the 1970s in a whole new sound quality. For this purpose, the renowned Emil Berliner Studios have remastered and edited the original four- and eight-track tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA) using technologies specially developed for the production of the series. The sonic differences from the original releases are significant: greater clarity, more subtlety and improvements in frequency response, while at the same time less background noise, distortion and compression enable an audiophile listening experience like never before.
On 180g vinyl records and in a deluxe gatefold edition with original covers and lyrics, the copies of this series will be published limited and numbered, accompanied by additional photos and facsimiles of the recording protocols and tape boxes.
