Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of one of classical music's greatest masterpieces. An extraordinary journey of emotion and transcendence, now available on 2xHD vinyl.
This 1979 recording has been called one of the most perfect versions of Mozart's Requiem ever made. Margareta Hallin, Anne-Marie Mühle, Brian Burrows and Magnus Lindén are accompanied by musicians of the Stockholm Conservatory and the Choir of St. Jacob, conducted by Stefan Sköld. Each note resonates with the weight of history, inviting you to reflect, to feel, and to connect with the essence of life and death.
Mozart's "Requiem" in D minor (KV 626) from 1791 is the last composition of the musical genius and is generally considered a masterpiece of classical music. Among the various recordings that interpret this magnificent work, this recording – with the musicians of the Stockholm Conservatory and the renowned St. Jacob Choir under the direction of Stefan Sköld – enjoys a special status: the recording from 1979 is considered one of the most perfect versions of Mozart's Requiem ever made. Soloists such as Margareta Hallin (mezzo-soprano), Anne-Marie Mühle (alto), Brian Burrows (tenor) and Magnus Lindén (bass) succeed in a fascinating way in expressing the gravity of the story, which deals with the essence of life and death, sensitively and thus doing justice to Mozart's sublime greatness.
For this sonically impressive LP version, the original recording was specially mastered completely analogue (AAA), cut on the tube equipment at Bernie Grundman Mastering, pressed as a 180 gram vinyl (33 rpm) and provided with an informative booklet.
René Laflamme, one of the most sought-after sound engineers in the industry, used high-quality Nagra equipment for the detailed remastering. 2xHD, which he runs together with André Perry, the founder of the famous "Le Studio" in Québec, enjoys an excellent reputation and has rightly earned an exceptional status in the high-end world. Laflamme's unique skills in sound processing are appreciated by many important players in the industry: For example, he represents and advises sound pioneers such as Nagra or Kronos Audio.
