Jon Oliva, Paul O'Neill and Bob Kinkel are the brains behind the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which released The Christmas Attic, the second album in a Christmas trilogy in 1998. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra emerged as a project from the heavy metal band Savatage and, according to producer O'Neill, was planned as a progressive rock band that follow in the footsteps of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd and The Who and thereby die Should break the boundaries of the genre. Kevin Gray has remastered the 180g double LP, which is being released for the first time on vinyl and in an elegant, Christmas-themed gatefold cover. As an encore, the album comes with a colorful, 12-page booklet that tells the story of the Christmas Attic and contains all the lyrics.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra certainly still has its largest fan base in the USA, but has also recently been seen in Germany. At the turn of the year 2013/2014 the band played in front of the Brandenburg Gate, followed by a successful tour of Germany and in summer 2015 they could be seen at the Wacken Festival.
