Ry Cooder Boomer's Story
Ry Cooder's development as a musician, who can pick up almost any style like no other, began during his time with Taj Mahal and Captain Beefheart, but reached a climax on Boomer's Story. With two ambitious but still rough studio albums behind him, the Californian jumped into a role that still defines him today: that of sound archaeologist and cultural historian. But as before, Cooder not only looks back to the past – in this case to Blues legend Sleepy John Estes, Songwriter Dan Penn and the great Skp James, but also to The Lost and neglected side arms of American Folk and blues music.
Krieg Wunderlich remastered the album from 1972 for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab from the original tapes. The 180g vinyl LP with 33 rpm comes in a strictly limited edition of 3,000 copies. Folding cover with serial number. Less eccentric than his first Album and less eclectic than Into the Purple Valley, Boomer's Story is one of Cooder's best works.
"This Album was also available as a Reissue of Speakers Corner - MFSL sounds a bit fuller, SC a bit more nuanced." - Lothar Brandt, AUDIO, issue 9/2017
"Lots of Roots and Blues Feeling for moderately rocking Songs with a dash of Country melancholy and Cajun depth. [...] Whether the Analog Fan should now resort to the slightly more powerful MFSL or very nuanced SC Reissue depends on the personal preferences." - Lothar Brandt, MINT, issue 8/2017
