Doug MacLeod There's a Time (2 LP)

Sound engineer "Prof." Keith Johnson, who has won multiple Grammy awards for his work, made the first blues recording for There's A Time. He positioned the singer / songwriter MacLeod with his colleagues Denny Croy (bass) and Jimi Bott (drums) in a recording room at Skywalker Studios. The musicians sat in a circle, could see each other while playing - and then they made music live, without headphones and without additional mixed recordings.

MacLeod, who worked with legends such as Big Joe Turner, Pee Wee Crayton, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Big Mama Thornton and George “Harmonica” Smith, plays an unorthodox but captivatingly powerful rhythm guitar. The instruments he uses for the album have names like "Moon" (a National M-1 Tricone), "Little Bit" (Gibson C-100 FE) and "Owl" (National Style "O"), and he also played a National El Trovador 12-string. His talent as a storyteller can be seen in titles like My In-laws Are Outlaws or the humorous St Elmo's Rooms and Pool.

In 2013 MacLeod was nominated for the Blues Award in the Acoustic Artist category.

The double 200g LP with 45 rpm in a hinged cover with stylish pictures is now available as a reference mastercut.

180-gram or 200-gram pressing - a question that is not that easy.

For identical titles from Reference Recordings, there are covers labeled 180 g containing LPs that weigh around 200 g, and vice versa. This is due to the fact that the commissioned pressing plants QRT and RTI in the USA specify a 10 percent tolerance for weight on the one hand and then occasionally simply get the orders mixed up. In terms of sound, the pressings do not differ.
